Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontics with precision and professionalism.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; document treatment details accurately.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and addressing patient questions to foster a comfortable environment.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist with medical documentation.
- Maintain strict infection control standards by following OSHA guidelines and ensuring all clinical areas are clean and organized.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures including 3D scanning when necessary for comprehensive diagnostics.
- Support pediatric dentistry cases with specialized knowledge of pediatrics and dental terminology to ensure gentle care for young patients.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely and accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent chairside assisting skills including four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency during procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding related to dental treatments for accurate record keeping.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and support medical imaging processes confidently.
