Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will create positive employee experience while collaborating with the HR team to effectively run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Essential Job Duties:
- Exhibits Rogers Core Values and promotes a positive customer service experience while influencing cultural change across the company.
- Coordinates pre-employment activities, including background checks, drug screenings, and new hire documentation.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Administer and maintain employee data within HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HRIS issues while providing system support to employees.
- Process employee personnel changes, including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and organizational updates.
- Support HR compliance by maintaining I-9 documentation and ensuring employee records comply with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Generate and maintain HR reports, metrics, and documentation to support business and compliance needs.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and improving HR processes, procedures, and training materials.
- Plan employee engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate employee service anniversary programs, including tracking milestones, ordering gifts, and ensuring timely employee recognition.
- Conduct end-of-year audits
- Records maintenance and retention for employees and applicants
- Point of contact for employees and HR/Payroll departments
- Prepare, process, and assist with files and forms for new, current and terminated employees.
- Create HR Standard Operating Procedures
- Lead various HR projects (UKG Recruiting, Compliance Reporting, etc)
Additional Job Duties:
- Backs up HR Manager on all aspects of Leaves of Absence process for multiple states from the eligibility, requiring health documents, designating, communication to employee and supervisor, tracking, interacting with leave plans etc.
- Serves as backup for Benefits administration - file feed management; working with third party vendors; billing reconciliation; administration duties; Open Enrollment management; qualifying life event management; claims processing etc.
- May attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Assists with the implementation of new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Onsite position located in Portland, Oregon, Corporate Headquarters required.
- Travel less than 25% may be required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of human resource generalist experience in multi-state company required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Skills:
- 3+ years of experience using UKG Pro with Workforce Management as HRIS preferred.
- SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred.
- Experience with California state employment practices and laws preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer and answering a phone.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
