Available Shifts:
- Afternoons, Monday-Friday,
Starting Pay Rate: $14.00 starting rate and a FREE Family YMCA membership
- Perform custodial activities including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, recycling, window washing, painting, seasonal activities such as snow removal, lawn care, and general cleaning.
- Clean program rooms, lounge areas, gymnasiums/field house, offices, locker rooms, hallways, and other facility spaces as assigned; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; empty waste receptacles; spot mop spills; remove gum as needed.
- Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities, including sinks, toilets, and urinals; fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper, and other items; clean mirrors, tiles, walls, and windows; unclog drains and toilets.
- Pick up paper and other debris from grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to facility; sweep concrete surfaces, wash down sidewalks, building entrances, and stairwells.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, and ride-on and walk behind automatic scrubbers.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment; prepare program rooms, gymnasiums/field house, and other spaces for special events or meetings as assigned; set up and assemble chairs, tables, and other furniture and equipment; clean up furniture, equipment, and debris following events.
- Records and reports all needed repairs; make repairs as directed.
- Ensure the facility is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Property Manager/Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Six months or more of related experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium work. Exerting 50 pounds of force rarely, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- The worker may be subject to noise.
- Frequently subject to environmental conditions- heat and humidity both inside and outside.
- Ability to: stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently throughout the work shift; occasionally ascends/ descends a ladder; walking on a variety of uneven surfaces and climbing stairs frequently; have visual acuity to determine safety and cleanliness of facility; receive information through sound as well as express through spoken word; read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents; frequently working with chemicals and cleaning supplies and in environments that create dust and dirt.
