JOB SUMMARY:
To assist in the daily production and/or cooking of all foods relating to the respective kitchen outlet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Follows safe food handling procedures at all times.

Prepares and cooks foods for kitchen according to proper procedures

Is able to work at a safe and efficient rate of speed in a sometimes hectic environment.

Stores, labels, dates and rotates all foods.
-
Cleans and organizes workstation or stations and surrounding areas as necessary.

Uses kitchen equipment as instructed to insure safety and proper care of equipment.

Acts as a role model to other employees and presents oneself as a credit to Coyote Valley Casino and encourages others to do the same.

Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies and procedures

Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Previous kitchen experience is preferred, 2-3 years cooking in a medium to high volume restaurant. Possess basic knife skills and be able to operate basic kitchen equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time and work efficiently in a sometimes hot and hectic environment. Possess ability to follow both verbal and written instruction. Possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must be a team player and have a positive attitude, and present a well-groomed appearance.
1. Must have outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful accommodating disposition.
2. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends and holidays.
Reasoning Ability:
1. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
2. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
The Employee is also required to be on his/her feet for long periods of time.

Work Environment:
Must be able to maneuver all areas of the kitchen and food service areas. Must be able to tolerate high temperatures. Must be able to lift, carry, pull and push the weight needed to perform the duties of the job. Must possess coordination and dexterity to use kitchen utensils such as knives, spatulas, food tongs, etc. Must be able to operate the following kitchen equipment: stoves, grills, fryers and other utensils when preparing food orders. Must be fast and accurate. Must be able to read, write and speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues. Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke.
