Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assists pharmacists with measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients to compound products and maintain the sterility and integrity of the final product.
Follows a comprehensive labeling approach when working with compounded medications, creams, ointments, and capsules.
Documents and accurately records steps taken, measurements, calculations, and any deviations or incidents that occurred during the compounding process.
Communicates with technicians on appropriate cleaning protocols to assist in routine equipment maintenance for a safe and hygienic compounding environment.
Compiles documentation for compounding activities to delineate ingredients used, procedures followed, and batch records.
Operates within a pharmaceutical team that utilizes compounding equipment and technology to measure and prepare scales, mixers, ointment mills, and homogenizers.
Observes the final compounded product, checking appearance and consistency to ensure that there are not any signs of contamination or abnormalities.
Attends seminars, workshops, and training programs to develop professional, pharmaceutical knowledge and stay informed on compounding techniques and technology advancements in the field.
Organizes the waste management system for the compounding area to differentiate hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, and recyclables.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Active pharmacy technician license (unrestricted) in the state of Minnesota

0-1 year
Essential Qualifications
Working knowledge of problem solving and decision making skills
Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) preferred.
