We are seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician to help keep our facility operating efficiently while ensuring the highest standards of safety, appearance, and functionality.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the school building, grounds, playgrounds, and equipment. This position also assists with custodial duties as needed to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance and preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
- Complete minor repairs including drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, doors, locks, cabinets, furniture, and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot and repair maintenance issues as they arise.
- Conduct regular inspections of classrooms, playgrounds, parking lots, and common areas to identify safety concerns.
- Maintain playground equipment and outdoor spaces to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, batteries, and other building components.
- Coordinate with outside vendors for larger repairs and preventative maintenance services.
- Maintain maintenance logs, supply inventories, and repair records.
- Set up and move furniture, equipment, and classrooms for events or operational needs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.
- Perform seasonal maintenance, including weather preparation and grounds upkeep.
- Assist with daily opening and closing building checks.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and maintenance areas remain organized and secure.
- Assist with custodial tasks when needed, including spill cleanup, restroom checks, trash removal, floor care, and emergency cleaning situations.
- Follow all OSHA and childcare licensing health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience in building maintenance, facilities management, handyman services, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, floor equipment, and maintenance machinery.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical work including bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Experience working in a school, childcare, or commercial facility is a plus.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
