Duties
- Assist with food preparation by chopping, slicing, measuring, and assembling ingredients according to menu specifications
- Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from chefs or kitchen managers
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces regularly
- Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling procedures and safety guidelines
- Prepare ingredients in advance for upcoming meal service or catering events
- Support kitchen staff during busy periods by providing efficient meal prep assistance
- Ensure all food items are stored properly with correct labeling and rotation to prevent waste
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience is highly desirable
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service within a restaurant or catering setting preferred
- Knowledge of menu planning and meal assembly techniques beneficial
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling procedures required
- Kitchen experience in the food industry or culinary environment is advantageous
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking techniques necessary for efficient meal prep
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
