Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced *Medical Biller* to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing and coding processes to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement from insurance providers and patients. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding guidelines, insurance claim processing, and electronic health record (EHR) management. The Medical Biller will play a vital role in optimizing revenue cycle management and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit medical claims using billing software and EHR/EHR systems, ensuring accuracy in coding such as ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes.
- Manage insurance third-party billing processes, including health insurance claim processing and follow-up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Ensure proper application of medical coding standards, including ICD coding, CPT coding, and coding for inpatient services, adhering to medical coding guidelines.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records related to billing and coding activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to verify diagnosis codes and procedures for proper documentation.
- Monitor accounts receivable and perform collections as needed to optimize revenue cycle management.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Assist with the management of electronic health records (EHR) systems for billing purposes, including data entry and record keeping.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG coding, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and electronic health record management for billing and coding purposes.
- Strong understanding of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing, and revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately according to coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to handle complex billing tasks efficiently.
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting is preferred but not required.
- Certification in medical billing or coding (such as CPC or CCS) is advantageous but not mandatory.
