Weighmasters are the first and last point of contact for our customers. They help ensure a smooth, accurate, and friendly experience at the scale and serve as ambassadors for Mazza Recycling.
The Weighmaster works closely with the Scale team and reports to the Lead Weighmaster.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a professional, customer‑focused manner
- Process inbound and outbound scale transactions accurately
- Collect tipping fees and manage basic customer account questions
- Verify required regulatory paperwork and vehicle licenses
- Communicate issues or discrepancies to the Lead Weighmaster
- Support account reconciliation with the Scale and Billing teams
- Monitor email during scheduled work hours
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned scale areas (inside & outside)
Weighmaster Levels (Growth Path)
Weighmaster I
- NJ Weighmaster License required
- Operates assigned inbound and outbound scales
Weighmaster II
- Proficient in all Weighmaster I duties
- Trained at one service window (Recycling, Scrap, or Mulch)
- Assists with training new Weighmasters
Weighmaster III
- Proficient in Weighmaster I & II duties
- Trained at two service windows
- Helps correct paperwork and improve scale operations
Qualifications
- NJ Weighmaster Certification (Office of Weights & Measures)
- Customer service experience preferred
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry)
- Ability to work outdoors in a fast‑paced environment
- Flexible to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
