About the Roles:
Micro Bird USA LLC is seeking a hands-on Engineering Liaison to act as a vital bridge to our Product Engineering department in Drummondville, Canada. This role will oversee the health of products from a production standpoint and collaborate with the corporate office to develop new options for specific bids or customers. In collaboration with Industrial Engineering, Production, and Global Planning departments, you make sure that parts to be used are within Micro Bird’s standards and comply with all applicable tests/regulations if a deviation is asked for by a vendor/subcontractor.
What you will do regularly:
- Owns the design of the product and is a key responder for production.
- Approves parts deviation asked by vendors and subcontractors.
- Create, approve rework/repair procedures.
- Analyze, prioritize and plan any new option development asked by bid or customer.
- Analyze, recommend, and take part in decision-making regarding corrective actions to be taken to protect deliveries.
- Support and facilitate continuous improvement efforts with Product Engineering.
- Perform risk assessments and lead any corrective actions.
- Manage assign projects according to identified priorities.
- Occasionally participate in tests and R&D development of new options.
- Accountable for design change implementation and follow-up.
- Responsible to participate in design reviews with Drummondville team on various product improvements/changes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the transportation or automotive industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with modeling software (i.e. SolidWorks, Autodesk).
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of an MRP system.
- Knowledge of the transit industry and its standards, suppliers, and customers.
- Knowledge of project management.
- Knowledge of problem-solving methods (8D) and continuous improvement concepts.
- Independence, resourcefulness, and teamwork.
- Excellent communication and deductive skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage crises.
- Ability to lead several projects concurrently.
