We are looking for a Help Desk/Desktop Support Analyst to provide on-site technical assistance in Appleton, Wisconsin for a construction and contractor-focused environment. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on desktop support, responds effectively to walk-up requests, and delivers dependable service to end users. The role centers on resolving day-to-day hardware, software, and printer issues while maintaining accurate support and asset records.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-person technical support for desktops, laptops, peripherals, and related workplace technology across the site.
- Address walk-up support requests and service desk issues with a strong focus on timely resolution and positive user experience.
- Troubleshoot Windows-based operating system problems, application issues, and common access-related concerns.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware malfunctions involving end-user devices and coordinate repairs or replacements when needed.
- Support network-connected and local printers by identifying issues, restoring functionality, and assisting users with basic printing problems.
- Use Active Directory to assist with account support tasks, access updates, and routine user administration.
- Record IT assets, device configurations, and support activity within the company asset management and ticketing platform, including ServiceNow, to maintain compliance and traceability.
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting by identifying connectivity problems and escalating more complex incidents when appropriate.
- 3+ years of experience in help desk, desktop support, or site support roles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, including Windows 10, in a support setting that requires attention to detail.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, desktop software, and end-user technology issues.
- Familiarity with Active Directory for common support and user account tasks.
- Ability to manage service desk tickets while also supporting walk-up requests in a hands-on environment.
- Understanding of basic network troubleshooting concepts and printer support.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with users at all levels.
