Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machines, ensuring proper tooling and machine calibration for each job.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and shop math to determine bend angles, dimensions, and sequence of operations.
- Program CNC-controlled press brakes for complex forming tasks, optimizing machine performance and precision.
- Measure finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while adhering to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on machinery, troubleshoot issues promptly, and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Assist with the setup and operation of related forming machines, such as stamping presses and forming presses, to support production needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Skilled in CNC programming and operation of CNC laser cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and other machining tools.
- Familiarity with measurement techniques for quality control using measuring instruments and precision measurement tools.
- Ability to interpret shop math accurately and apply it during machine setup and part inspection.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments, including proper use of hand tools, tooling, and safety equipment.
- Capable of working with welding techniques, sheet metal fabrication processes, and assembly tasks as needed.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with strong attention to detail ensures consistent quality output in a fast-paced setting.
