Phlebotomist Technician (Allied) – 13-Week Contract
Location: Concord, Massachusetts
Contract: 13 weeks
Shift: Night | Thursday–Sunday, 8:30 PM–7:00 AM
Hours: 10-hour shifts
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Position Type: Local Contract – Candidates must live within 50 miles of the facility
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist Technician for a 13-week local contract assignment in the Laboratory Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens from patients across all age groups while maintaining accuracy, patient safety, privacy, and excellent customer service.
This position is based in the MOB Lab on the main campus and requires prior travel/contract experience.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens accurately from newborns, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Perform pediatric blood draws and respond appropriately to patients of all ages.
- Prioritize and respond to STAT specimen collection requests.
- Accurately identify patients, enter test requests, accession specimens, and label samples according to laboratory protocols.
- Maintain required documentation and laboratory records.
- Transport specimens between departments as needed.
- Assist with specimen processing and specimens brought into the laboratory.
- Travel to nursing homes, patient homes, and satellite facilities for blood collection when required.
- Assist with glucose tolerance tests, phone coverage, and other laboratory operations.
- Provide coverage to understaffed areas as needed.
- Follow hospital, laboratory, safety, regulatory, and infection-control policies.
- Protect patient privacy, dignity, and rights.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient-safety activities.
- Provide professional, service-oriented patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Phlebotomy certification required
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; strong experience in phlebotomy required
- Pediatric blood-drawing experience required
- Experience with Meditech and/or Mobilab required
- Prior travel/contract experience required
- Compounding experience preferred, but not required
- Must be willing and able to work the specified Thursday–Sunday overnight schedule
- Strong patient-care, communication, documentation, and specimen-handling skills
