Cignition is seeking dedicated virtual tutors to join our team. As a Cignition tutor, you will play a pivotal role in providing one-to-one and small group (up to 4:1) tutoring sessions, focusing on mathematics and/or English Language Arts. Working directly with our experienced Program Management team, composed of former classroom educators and education experts, you will facilitate engaging and interactive tutoring sessions to foster student-to-student interaction and build deep conceptual understanding.
Cignition works with you to provide online tutoring sessions that match your schedule and tutoring interests. We provide tutors with instructional resources, and our unique system aggregates detailed topic and concept-level data collected through student activities. Each session begins with tutors receiving a rich profile for each student from which to best understand their needs.
Our Model for our Programs:
- Independent contractor tutoring opportunity with flexible scheduling (average 10 hours per week, no set minimum/maximum)
- 30-60 minute recurring session windows, 2-3 times per week
- Tutors will work with the same students each week, as relationships are crucial to student learning
We are currently looking for candidates who have regular availability between the hours of 9:00 am-4:30 pm Pacific Time / 12:00 pm-7:30 pm Eastern Time. Cignition’s school district clients determine the tutoring schedules and provide student rosters.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct 1:1 and small group (up to 4:1) virtual tutoring sessions in mathematics and/or English Language Arts
- Maintain professionalism and integrity in all interactions with students
- Utilize an inquiry-based approach to encourage meaningful student engagement
- Update availability regularly to ensure accurate scheduling
What you’ll need:
- Availability between 9:00 am-4:30 pm PT / 12:00 pm-7:30 pm ET
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is strongly preferred
- Experience teaching/tutoring students -- our tutors average ten years of classroom experience
- Familiarity with research-based instructional practices
- Must complete ink fingerprinting at a US location
- Excellent communication skills
- Access to a computer with a reliable internet connection
- Proficiency in virtual meeting tools such as Google Meet and Zoom
- A strong belief that all students can succeed
