Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing residential, commercial, and government construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role ensures projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet the company's quality, safety, and customer service standards.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow into a Project Manager position.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager with multiple active construction projects.
- Maintain project schedules and monitor milestone completion.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and utility companies.
- Schedule deliveries, inspections, and subcontractor work.
- Visit job sites to monitor progress and document work.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain organized project files in company software.
- Upload contracts, permits, inspections, RFIs, submittals, and closeout documents.
- Track project budgets and committed costs.
- Process invoices and verify subcontractor billing.
- Prepare weekly project status reports.
Client Communication
- Communicate with homeowners, commercial clients, architects, and engineers.
- Provide project updates and respond to client questions.
- Schedule meetings and document meeting notes.
- Help maintain excellent customer satisfaction throughout the project.
Estimating & Preconstruction Support
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and material calculations.
- Request and compare subcontractor bids.
- Help prepare estimates and project budgets.
- Gather permit documents and required municipal paperwork.
- Assist with government bid documentation and compliance requirements.
Project Documentation
- Create and track change orders.
- Monitor Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Track submittals and approvals.
- Maintain accurate daily project records.
- Assist with project closeout packages, warranties, and final documentation.
Procurement
- Order materials and verify delivery schedules.
- Coordinate equipment rentals.
- Track purchase orders.
- Communicate with vendors regarding deliveries and backorders.
Safety & Quality
- Assist in conducting site safety inspections.
- Ensure OSHA and company safety standards are followed.
- Report safety concerns immediately.
- Help verify workmanship meets company quality standards.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- 1–3 years of construction experience.
- Experience with estimating or project coordination.
- Knowledge of Florida building codes.
- Experience with project management software (JobNimbus, Procore, Buildertrend, Houzz Pro, or similar).

Pay: $60,000.00 - $84,691.73 per year
