We are looking for a QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN to join our team. This location can report to Grand Junction, CO, Moab, UT or Durango, CO. As a Quality Control Technician with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials you will be responsible for ensuring quality control of batching, mixing, and delivering high-quality ready-mixed concrete that meets project specifications and customer expectations. This role requires travel to monitor quality standards and perform testing.

About the Role
Responsibilities:
- Perform QC tests (air content, slump/workability, coarseness/sandiness, yield, set time, water-cement ratio, strength).
- Investigate potential quality deficiencies through evaluating available data and observing in-place concrete characteristics and environmental factors.
- Determine QC coverage priorities and communicate project specific testing needs with available staff
- Evaluate mix strength performance using key performance indicators to make necessary mix adjustments to maintain adequate overdesign.
- Maintain required documentation, certifications and mix data for annual and biannual submittals to CDOT/UDOT and other governing bodies having authority.
- Review project specifications and general structural notes to recommend appropriate mix designs for the required applications. Create Submittals as needed based on those recommendations
- Coordinate trial batching in anticipation of high priority or technical concrete placements.
- Depending on need they will spend roughly 50-75% of their time at the batch plant or in the field performing testing and assessing mix designs in their plastic state.
- Sample and test raw materials for specification compliance.
- Record and communicate test results to dispatch, batch personnel, and customers.
- Troubleshoot fresh and hardened concrete to identify quality issues.
About You
We Require:
- Bachelor Degree (B.A.) preferred.
- A minimum of 1–3years of QC experience within a construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
- Good organizational and math skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
