Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, dependable Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team and provide in-home therapy for a patient requiring significant physical assistance during mobility and functional activities.
This role requires someone who can confidently and safely manage heavy physical demands, including transfers, gait support, and hands-on patient assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-home physical therapy treatment under PT supervision.
- Perform mobility training, therapeutic exercises, and neuromuscular re-education.
- Assist with maximal physical support during transfers (bed, chair, standing) and ambulation.
- Ensure patient safety during gait training and balance activities.
- Document treatment sessions accurately and thoroughly.
- Communicate effectively with the supervising PT and the patient’s family.
Physical Requirements (Essential for This Role)
To meet the needs of this patient, candidates must be able to:
- Provide hands-on physical support requiring up to 110 lbs of assist during transfers.
- Maintain patient stability during walking and functional tasks.
- Frequently bend, pivot, stabilize, and perform guarding techniques safely.
- Assist with wheelchair management and durable medical equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with high-fall-risk or neurologically impaired patients.
- Strong problem-solving skills and confidence in high-assist scenarios.
- Excellent communication and patient-interaction skills.
