Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, dietary guidelines, and menu plans, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Assist with menu planning by contributing ideas that meet nutritional requirements and resident preferences.
- Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients efficiently and safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering strictly to food safety standards and sanitation protocols.
- Support catering events or special meal services by assisting with setup, serving, and cleanup duties.
- Use knife skills and culinary techniques to ensure precise food preparation and presentation.
- Collaborate with dietary aides and kitchen staff to ensure timely meal delivery while maintaining a positive team environment.
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience in a senior living or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within the food industry or restaurant environment.
- Experience with menu planning, meal prep, and catering services demonstrates versatility in culinary skills.
- Knowledge of food safety practices, including proper storage, sanitation, and handling procedures.
- Fine dining or restaurant experience is a plus, showcasing attention to detail in food presentation.
- Skilled in knife techniques, meal assembly, and serving methods to ensure high-quality service standards.
- Familiarity with dietary requirements specific to seniors or healthcare populations enhances your ability to meet resident needs effectively.
