Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative duties. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes including medical collections and medical billing tasks.
- Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software; manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Maintain patient records by filing, updating, and reviewing medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and explaining clinic policies.
- Review clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness; support coding processes such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and medical coding.
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, typing (including 10-key typing), and maintaining organized medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate care plans and documentation review; support health information management initiatives.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when communicating with patients, insurance companies, and vendors.
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines to support accurate billing and documentation.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to navigate multiple systems efficiently.
