Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Yardman to join our dynamic warehouse and logistics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse distribution activities, handling heavy equipment, and maintaining safety protocols across all tasks. Your expertise in inventory control, materials handling, and warehouse management will contribute to efficient order fulfillment and shipping processes. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks, and order pickers to load, unload, and transport materials safely within the warehouse.
- Manage inventory control by accurately stocking, picking, packing, and organizing products using warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory management software like AS400.
- Ensure proper handling of materials through manual handling techniques while adhering to safety regulations including OSHA standards and PPE use.
- Assist in shipping and receiving activities by preparing orders for dispatch, verifying shipments against documentation, and maintaining accurate inbound/outbound logs.
- Support warehouse operations by performing stock replenishment, order fulfillment, order picking, and packaging tasks efficiently.
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations involving heavy lifting or material handling equipment operation to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace by adhering to safety regulations and operational procedures at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution or warehouse management roles with a focus on inventory control and materials handling.
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks, and order pickers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations including shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, stock management, and logistics processes.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems like AS400 or similar warehouse management software.
- Prior warehouse supervisor experience is preferred but not mandatory; strong technical proficiency in warehouse operations is essential.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while following OSHA safety regulations and PPE guidelines.
- Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities accurately during stock transactions.
