Under the direction and daily supervision of the Hemby Program Coordinator and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Hemby Experience Lead will be responsible for the supervision, behavior management, and programming of the participants in Hemby Center Events. Hemby Experience Lead will assist guests with all aspects of their program including but not limited to Archery, Fishing, Alpine Tower and Giant Swing, Challenge Tower and Zip Line, Nature Hikes, Outdoor Education Classes, Field Days, and Campfire programs. The Lead will also be responsible for meeting YMCA and facility expectations and developing successful relationships with staff, parents, participants and volunteers associated with the event.

Essential Functions
- Assist in planning and implementing all components of events including staffing, equipment control, enhancement programs, programming and communication.

Responsible for the safety of participants at all time.

Attend all staff meetings and training as required by the Hemby Program Coordinator.

Responsible for meeting the individual needs of all the participants in the program and making their experience meaningful.
- Ensure the daily cleaning and maintenance of the space and/or facility, help to create a safe program environment each event, set up and take down included.
- Responsible for incorporating the Christian Mission of the YMCA in all program components and work relationships.
- Assist with the Quality Process specifically including Q-checks and facility cleanliness.
- Maintain positive relationships and open, positive communication with participants, YMCA personnel, site personnel, and volunteers.
- Complete assigned duties within assigned timelines

Required Qualifications
- Site-specific or Level 1 Tower Facilitation certification required*

Previous experience planning/providing outdoor education curriculum, recreational activities and craft activities for any/all ages.
- Possess clear communication skills with children, adults, co-workers and supervisors

Previous experience working with children, to include handling conflict situations
- CPR certification within 60 days of hire*
-
Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of hire*

Strong decision making skills and initiative
- Certification Course training available through employment.
All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
