Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist and HR Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in managing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws, and supporting various human resources functions. The successful candidate will provide support in all areas of Human Resources and Administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Prepare/monitor and ensure accurate, up-to-date information is in for Payroll processing weekly. Prepare/run reports for EOM (end of month items).
- Assist with orientation out in the field as needed per property to introduce the employee to the hotel/company and ensure the appropriate information is disseminated & the appropriate forms are completed & processed: to include but not limited to, new hire forms, tax forms, benefit enroll forms & an overview to the company handbook and employee policies.
- During open enrollment, support HR in communicating, educating and administering the employee benefit program in a timely, accurate manner: act as the intermediary with the insurance and retirement plan administrators, assist with reconciling all monthly billing to in house roster, and assist HR with all benefit notifications, enrollment, administration and audits including group health insurance, COBRA, PTO, leave of absences, FMLA, jury duty pay, and retirement plan.
- Assist in the development, coordinate, and implement various employee relations programs and company events.
- Bring all sensitive employee related information to the attention of the DHR in all instances to limit liability.
- Process forms and respond to written and oral inquiries regarding verification of employment, wages, unemployment compensation & worker's compensation claims, in a manner which is consistent and ensure that liability is minimized.
- Maintain files and the Payroll/Human Resource office systems. Compile various corporate reports and property reports to provide accurate information as needed by property.
- Assist corporate accounting team with projects as needed. Run monthly reports and process imports.
- Notify all managers monthly of reviews due & track completed reviews to ensure they are given in a timely manner.
- Inventory office and benefit supplies on a regular basis, complete purchase orders needed to purchase supplies and maintain needed inventory.
- Assist in the competitive wage & benefit survey annually.
- Keep Wellness Newsletter current, including, but not limited to; post memos, pictures of events.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Experience
- One to two years in hotel, human resources or related position.
Education
- Four-year college degree or equivalent/education experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have basic PC knowledge, minimum typing speed of 35 wpm, ability to write and communicate professionally, bi-lingual fluency a plus. Must be hospitality oriented and possess the ability to work under pressure. Should possess the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Requires thorough knowledge of a technical field or the practices and procedures of a professional field to perform non-repetitive analytical work. May require knowledge of policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines. May require supervision/management skills.
*May have oversight/supervision of interns on an occasional basis.
