Responsibilities
-
Assess health status for specific patient populations using advanced practice knowledge and skills.

Obtains relevant health and medical history.

Performs a physical examination based on age and medical history.
-
Performs/orders preventative and diagnostic procedures based on the patient's age and history.

Identifies health and medical risk factors.
-
Identifies acute and chronic health problems.
-
Appropriately orders and accurately interprets diagnostic results.

Develops and implements an individualized plan of care.

Establishes practice agreements with collaborating physician.
-
Collaborates with health care team members in developing realistic care expectations.

Determines effectiveness of treatment plan with documentation of patient care outcomes.

Revises and modifies the care plan as needed to achieve health and medical goals.

Refers care to other health care professionals and community agencies as needed.

Prescribes pharmacologic (including controlled substances) and non-pharmacologic agents.

Provides leadership for clinical and support staff.

Serves as a resource to support staff, enhancing quality of care.

Participates in the training, orientation, and evaluation of clinical and support staff.

Participates in appropriate clinical investigation relevant to specific patient population.

Responds to nursing staff educational needs in formal and informal venue demonstrating nursing procedures, charting procedures, and reviewing pathophysiology of disease and new treatment modalities.

Qualifications:
-
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant training program.
-
BC/BE through NCCPA.
-
Licensed or ability to obtain a PA license with prescriptive authority through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
-
Ability to obtain and /or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota.
-
Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges (if required).
-
