Nation's Infusion at Home is seeking PRN Pharmacists for our home infusion pharmacy in Owings Mills! As a small business in the big home care market, we offer many advantages over a traditional hospital or retail setting!
This role will typically require Saturday shifts between 9 AM - 5 PM, and we're seeking candidates who can work at least 2 weekends/shifts per month. Holiday availability is a big plus!
Key Responsibilities: primarily focused on TPNs and production support.
Preparation and Compounding
- Accurately prepare and compound intravenous admixtures, including sterile preparations, in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Oversee the compounding process performed by pharmacy technicians, ensuring accuracy, sterility, and adherence to quality control procedures.
- Review and verify orders for accuracy and appropriateness before dispensing.
Therapeutic Evaluation and Monitoring
- Identify potential drug interactions, side effects, and contraindications, ensuring safe medication administration.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
- Provide guidance and training to pharmacy technicians on compounding and aseptic techniques.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and ensure seamless coordination of services.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations, including proper documentation of all compounding activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including medication orders, clinical notes, and therapy adjustments.
- Conduct regular quality checks on compounded medications, equipment, and sterile environments to uphold safety standards.
- Completes and maintains appropriate documentation related to Engineering Controls (i.e. Room and equipment temperature, pressures, and cleaning).
Patient Education and Support
- Serve as a point of contact as-needed for patients, addressing medication-related inquiries and providing support throughout their therapy
Requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience in intravenous admixture services and intravenous therapy, preferably in a home health setting
- Ability to problem solve and work under pressure
- Computer literate; ability to use Office 365 tools and the company's EMR
- Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and reliability
- Current Maryland pharmacist license in good standing
Work Environment:
- Standing for extended periods and working in a cleanroom or sterile environment
- Occasional lifting of materials and supplies may be required
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs
- The pharmacy is located within a private office with no public access.
- This role will cover the weekend needs outside of normal business hours (Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM - 5 PM)
Pay: $56.00 - $73.00 per hour
