We are looking for a cashier to join our team Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Previous retail experience is helpful. A person who would enjoy this job would be someone who likes learning, cooking, eating, chatting with customers. Must be able to lift 50lb crates of produce. About Our Shop
We are a small, farm-to-table butcher and grocer looking for someone who is team-oriented and interested in whole animal butchery and the local food economy. The pasture-raised meats, Ohio made cheeses, and locally grown produce we carry are the result of the hard work of many hands across our region. Our ethos is to honor this hard work by being knowledgeable about our products and engaging directly with our customers, many of whom are familiar faces and weekly regulars. We do our best to minimize food waste by creating chef-driven, value added products that illustrate how delicious it can be to incorporate the 'scraps’ and eat with the seasons. We are a small staff who tries to maintain an enjoyable work atmosphere through the ebbs and flows of each week. Some days are more relaxed with time to deep clean and organize; other days we are buckling down to accomplish a long list of tasks and projects.
Cashier Job Description and Responsibilities
Sales/Customer Service
- Learn Revel point of sale system and handle cash/credit transactions
- Maintain a welcoming environment and friendly disposition toward customers
- Develop basic knowledge of products
- Answer inquiries through email and telephone.
Shopkeeping/Merchandising
- Store opening and closing duties
- Daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance schedules
- Create and maintain displays, ensuring products are visible and inviting
- Organize back stock and storage in accordance with FIFO (first in, first out) principle
Receiving
- Integrate weekly deliveries into shop inventory
- Checking invoices to ensure deliveries are complete and pricing is accurate
- Labeling new products
Qualifications
- Basic math abilities
- Able to lift 50lbs (this job is very physical at times)
- Good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Capable of multi-tasking
- Team-oriented
