Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation (CMDE) Provider
Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic and developmental evaluations for children under age 21 who may have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or related conditions. Determine medical necessity for EIDBI services, prepare diagnostic reports, collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams to support treatment planning, and provide clinical supervision to staff and trainees as required by Minnesota DHS and applicable licensing board standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluations according to Minnesota DHS and EIDBI guidelines.
- Review developmental, medical, educational, and behavioral history.
- Conduct caregiver interviews and direct clinical observations.
- Administer and interpret standardized assessment tools appropriate for ASD and related developmental conditions.
- Evaluate cognitive, adaptive, communication, social-emotional, and behavioral functioning.
- Establish or confirm diagnoses within professional scope of practice.
- Complete the CMDE Medical Necessity Summary and determine eligibility for EIDBI services.
- Prepare detailed evaluation reports with diagnostic impressions and recommendations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to families in a clear, supportive manner.
- Coordinate with BCBA, QSP, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior analysts, schools, and other providers as appropriate.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and consultation to clinical trainees, interns, and other staff as permitted by licensure and Minnesota DHS requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with Minnesota DHS, MHCP, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education related to autism assessment and developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
A CMDE provider must meet Minnesota DHS requirements, including:
- Be a licensed physician, APRN, qualified mental health professional, or eligible clinical trainee under supervision, as defined by Minnesota law.
- Have either:
- At least 2,000 hours of clinical experience evaluating and treating individuals with ASD or related conditions, or
- Equivalent graduate-level coursework in autism diagnosis, treatment strategies, or child development.
- Be qualified to diagnose, evaluate, or treat within the scope of their professional license.
- Have specialized training in standardized autism and developmental assessment tools and developmental evaluation.
- Meet all supervision requirements established by Minnesota DHS and the applicable professional licensing board for supervising clinical trainees or other staff, when serving in a supervisory capacity.
Knowledge and Skills
- Expertise in autism spectrum disorder and related developmental conditions.
- Proficiency with standardized assessment instruments.
- Strong clinical interviewing, diagnostic reasoning, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and family education abilities.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop clinical staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of Minnesota EIDBI regulations, documentation standards, supervision requirements, and medical necessity criteria.
Hours: 20-30hrs a week, flexible.
Pay: $48.00 - $55.00 per hour
