Travel Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer - Echo/Cardiac

Job Details

American Traveler is hiring a Travel Echocardiogram Technician for a Day shift assignment requiring ARDMS/CCI registration and BLS certification.

Work in the Cardiology Non-Invasive department performing diagnostic echocardiograms
Adult and pediatric patient population
Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
4x10 hour shift schedule
Weekend rotation required
Shares on-call coverage for echo emergency exams outside regular working hours

ARDMS/CCI registered or registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation required
State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License required if applicable
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two-year allied health education program preferred (e.g. diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, or RN)
1+ years of experience performing echocardiograms preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and perform effectively under a fast-paced, stressful environment
Manual dexterity to perform echocardiogram exams

Perform technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams
Coordinate scheduling, patient transport, and billing information with related hospital departments
Assist cardiologists during exam dictation by preparing and measuring M-modes
Deliver, pick up, and distribute dictations in a timely manner
Respond to patient needs during exams and report condition changes to the physician or nurse in charge
Order echo supplies and maintain cleanliness and stock of exam rooms
Log patients and exams and file patient records
Participate in departmental and hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities
Maintain quality control of equipment and coordinate repair services as needed
Stay current on advances in echocardiography and mentor with cardiologists on new skills
Assist with other cardiac procedures as needed
Returning employees who previously worked at any CHRISTUS facility must have a 6-month separation period before starting a new travel assignment
