Your Impact
As the Director of Resident Services, you will lead the strategy, development, and execution of resident-focused programs designed to enhance housing stability, economic mobility, wellness, education, and community engagement throughout a diverse affordable housing portfolio.
You will serve as both a resident advocate and strategic leader, working closely with operations teams, community partners, nonprofit organizations, and residents to ensure communities are connected to valuable resources and opportunities.
What You'll Do
Resident Services Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive resident services strategy across multiple affordable and LIHTC communities
- Design and implement impactful programs focused on education, workforce development, financial literacy, health and wellness, youth programming, senior services, and family support
- Conduct community assessments to identify resident needs and service gaps
- Establish annual goals, program initiatives, and success metrics
- Create engaging resident experiences that foster community connection and retention
Community Partnerships & Resource Development
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with local nonprofits, schools, healthcare providers, workforce development organizations, government agencies, and community stakeholders
- Expand access to supportive services and resources for residents
- Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that enhance resident programming
- Represent the organization at community events, industry meetings, and networking functions
- Explore grant opportunities and external funding sources that support resident initiatives
Portfolio Support & Team Collaboration
- Partner with Regional Managers, Property Managers, and onsite teams to align resident services with community goals
- Provide leadership and guidance on resident engagement strategies
- Support resident retention and satisfaction efforts across the portfolio
- Assist communities in addressing complex resident challenges through resource coordination and advocacy
- Travel throughout the Houston market to support multiple properties and initiatives
Program Performance & Reporting
- Develop systems to track participation, outcomes, and program effectiveness
- Analyze resident engagement trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Prepare reports demonstrating program impact and portfolio performance
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership
- Ensure programs remain responsive to evolving resident and community needs
Affordable Housing Compliance
- Ensure resident services initiatives align with LIHTC, affordable housing, and ownership requirements
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Support compliance reviews, audits, and reporting requirements
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and best practices affecting resident services programs
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in resident services, affordable housing, community engagement, social services, nonprofit programs, community development, or related fields
- Experience supporting affordable housing and LIHTC communities
- Proven success developing resident programs and community initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain community partnerships
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and presentation abilities
- Experience managing multiple projects across multiple locations
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Public Administration, Education, Sociology, or a related field
- Experience with LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, or other affordable housing programs
- Background in social work, nonprofit leadership, community outreach, or resident services
- Experience collecting data, measuring program outcomes, and preparing executive reports
- Grant writing, grant administration, or fundraising experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills
