Mission of the Role
This role exists to develop the next generation of Diamond Turning Technicians by training individuals with strong technical aptitude to manufacture precision optical components used in Clear Align’s advanced EO/IR systems. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies, you will build specialized skills in precision machining, optical metrology, and optical fabrication while supporting products that serve critical defense, aerospace, and national security missions.
This position will begin on first shift for approximately 3–6 months to complete training and skill development. Upon successful completion of training, the role will transition permanently to second shift. Candidates must be willing and able to work second shift as a regular schedule.
In Your First Year You Will (What Success Looks Like)
First 90 Days – Learn the Fundamentals
- Complete training in diamond turning operations, safety procedures, and optical manufacturing processes.
- Learn to read engineering drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
- Develop familiarity with diamond turning equipment, tooling, materials, and handling requirements.
- Assist with machine setup, part handling, inspection activities, and production support under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow established procedures and work instructions.
- Build the skills and knowledge necessary to transition successfully to second-shift production operations.
By 6 Months – Build Technical Skills and Independence
- Perform routine diamond turning operations with increasing independence while meeting quality and production expectations.
- Develop proficiency using precision measurement and inspection equipment to verify component quality.
- Support setup, operation, and monitoring of diamond turning machines while maintaining accurate production records.
- Identify and communicate quality concerns, equipment issues, or process deviations promptly.
- Successfully transition to and integrate into second-shift operations following completion of training.
By 12 Months – Become a Trusted Production Contributor
- Independently manufacture precision optical components that meet quality, dimensional, and surface finish requirements.
- Demonstrate consistent performance in a production environment while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Contribute to process improvements, productivity initiatives, and continuous learning within the Diamond Turning team.
- Serve as a dependable team member who can be trusted to operate equipment, maintain documentation, and support production goals.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong technical aptitude and interest in machining, manufacturing, engineering, or skilled trades.
- Ability to learn and follow detailed procedures, specifications, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work first shift during training and permanently transition to second shift upon completion of training.
- U.S. Person required.
Preferred Extras
- Technical school, vocational training, machining coursework, or manufacturing experience.
- Experience operating machinery, tools, or manufacturing equipment.
- Exposure to machining, CNC equipment, optics manufacturing, or precision assembly.
- Experience reading technical drawings or blueprints.
