GL Power Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Mill Set-Up Operator to join our manufacturing team in Madison, Ohio. This position is responsible for setting up, proving out, and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision machined components that meet quality and production standards.
The ideal candidate has a strong machining background, can independently perform machine setups, troubleshoot machining processes, train operators, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC milling machines and prove out programs to produce the first acceptable part.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Verify machine setups, tooling, fixtures, and offsets prior to production.
- Assist in training and mentoring machine operators.
- Expedite work through the machine shop to meet production schedules.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and perform basic machine and part repairs.
- Recommend machining process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop tooling improvements and assist with tooling inventory management.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment.
- Assist Quality Control with gage setup and inspection criteria.
- Set up and operate secondary operation equipment as required (Machines 400, 500, 600, and 700).
- Perform deburring and finishing operations as needed.
- Operate manual machine tools when qualified.
- Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two-year Trade School certification in Machining Technology or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing machine shop.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC milling machine setup experience.
- Experience proving out CNC programs and producing first-piece approvals.
- Strong understanding of machining processes and metal removal techniques.
- Experience operating manual machine tools is preferred.
- Ability to provide your own standard machinist tools.
