Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing personalized treatment plans for outpatient clients across diverse age groups, including geriatrics, and orthopedics.
- Implement physical therapy treatments utilizing manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and other modalities to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function.
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring proper usage aligned with clinical standards.
- Document clinical assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems following established medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate seamlessly with healthcare professionals such as physicians, occupational therapists, and nurses to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, exercises, and home health strategies to promote ongoing recovery outside the clinical setting.
- Maintain compliance with clinical documentation standards and ensure all medical documentation reflects current physiotherapy practices and patient progress.
Experience
- Prior outpatient experience in physical therapy settings is highly valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, orthopedics, and medical terminology to support accurate assessments and effective treatment implementation.
- Hands-on experience with manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy is preferred.
- Proven ability to operate medical equipment used in physiotherapy treatments safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with patients of all ages and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience managing electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Background working within outpatient clinics or home health environments that involve discharge planning and acute care procedures is advantageous.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Education: Graduate of an APTA-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Certification: Current CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Transportation: Valid PA driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance.
- Clearances: Ability to pass PA State Police Criminal Record Check and child abuse clearances (required for community care).
