About the Role
As a Facilities Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Facilities Director to ensure Magnolia’s campuses, group homes, and vehicles are well-maintained, safe, and functional. From basic repairs and preventive maintenance to safety inspections and event support, you’ll play a vital role in keeping daily operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of buildings, vehicles, equipment, and systems
- Complete basic repairs in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general upkeep
- Patch and paint walls, ceilings, or exteriors as needed
- Assemble and repair furniture, fixtures, cabinets, or railings
- Replace HVAC filters and monitor system performance
- Maintain outdoor areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and fences
- Conduct safety checks on emergency systems, living areas, and mechanical spaces
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and house managers
- Track and report supply and inventory needs for tools, parts, and equipment
- Support event setup and logistics on the main campus
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed and materials used
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism when entering resident spaces
- Participate in emergency response and evacuation efforts when required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in maintenance, construction, or related field required
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and/or landscaping
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and dependable under pressure
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid Louisiana driver’s license and current automotive insurance required
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Ability to pass a background check, pre-employment drug test, and physical
- Availability for occasional evening, weekend, late-night, and overtime work
- Willingness to be on call for emergencies
