Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual to join our team as a Substitute Teacher at Head Start (TEAC, GBE & LGE). The ideal candidate will provide support to classroom teachers by delivering instruction, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for young children. This role is essential in maintaining continuity of education and fostering a positive atmosphere for students in the absence of the regular teacher.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lesson plans and educational activities as outlined by the regular teacher.
- Supervise and engage students in a variety of learning experiences.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed.
- Adapt to various classroom settings and student needs.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during instructional time.
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as required.
- Collaborate with other staff members to support student learning and development.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children.
- Basic understanding of child development principles.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to school policies and procedures.
- Criminal background check clearance.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
