About the Role
We are seeking a State-Licensed Respiratory Therapist to conduct overnight polysomnography (sleep studies) for patients in both an in-lab sleep center and hospital setting. This is a PRN, 1099 independent contractor position offering flexible scheduling based on patient volume and study needs. Shifts are overnight and typically run 12 hours.
Responsibilities
- Set up and conduct in-lab and in-hospital overnight sleep studies (PSG) in accordance with AASM standards and facility protocols
- Apply and calibrate EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory effort, airflow, and pulse oximetry sensors
- Monitor patients throughout the night, ensuring signal quality and patient comfort/safety
- Titrate and adjust CPAP/BiPAP settings as ordered
- Respond to patient needs and any medical concerns during the study
- Accurately document study findings, technical notes, and patient observations
- Score or prepare data for physician interpretation as required
- Maintain equipment, ensure proper infection control, and follow all facility and regulatory guidelines
- Communicate professionally with hospital staff, lab coordinators, and patients
Qualifications
- Current State of New York Respiratory Therapist (RT) license (required)
- Prior experience conducting in-lab and/or in-hospital sleep studies strongly preferred
- CPR/BLS certification required
- Strong understanding of PSG equipment, montages, and troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently overnight with minimal supervision
- Reliable transportation to facilities in the greater Valhalla, NY area
Schedule
- PRN / as-needed basis
- Overnight shifts, up to 12 hours, scheduled around patient study needs
- Flexibility to accept or decline shifts as an independent contractor
Compensation
- 1099 Independent Contractor
- Competitive per-shift/per-study rate (based on experience)
