This is a W-2, non-exempt employee position based near Mobile, Alabama, supporting a specific project with an hourly rate of $35–$55 based on experience and qualifications. We are hiring immediately, with an anticipated duration through December 2026 and the possibility of extension based on project or company needs. Due to the project schedule and deliverable timelines, the typical workload is approximately 40 hours per week, with periods where weekly hours may increase to as much as 60 hours depending on project phase and site needs.
Preference will be given to candidates located in Alabama or nearby states, or in states where we currently employ remote staff (AZ, AL, CO, CA, FL, GA, IL, MS, NE, NJ, PA, VT, WA).

Under minimal supervision, perform system walkdowns for P&ID development.
- Identify discrepancies between field conditions and drawings, including missing, incorrect, or obsolete components.
- Mark up P&IDs with clear, accurate redlines based on field observations.
- Coordinate with SMEs to incorporate redlines and revisions.
- Develop system sketches for new P&IDs.
- Assist with onsite QA/QC reviews of P&IDs prior to final issuance.
- Support system scoping, equipment tagging, and line/instrument identification efforts.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate walkdown progress, issues, and findings.

Strong ability to read, interpret, and verify P&IDs, flow diagrams, isometrics, and engineering documentation.

Solid understanding of piping systems, valves, instruments, equipment, and process flow.

High attention to detail with the ability to accurately document as-built conditions.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with engineering, CAD, and operations personnel.

Ability to work effectively in brownfield, operating power plant environments.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or a technically related field preferred.

In lieu of a degree, five (5) years of relevant industrial or field experience may be substituted.

Minimum three (3) years of experience working with P&IDs in power generation, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial facilities.

Prior experience supporting P&ID updates or as-built documentation strongly preferred.

Field experience in operating plants or brownfield environments preferred.
This role requires the ability to perform on-site P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) revision markups and initial P&ID development in an active industrial facility environment. The position involves prolonged periods of standing, walking, and climbing stairs or ladders, as well as the ability to access process areas that may require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The candidate must be able to carry drawing sets, field notebooks, visually review detailed technical drawings, and work in environments that may include noise, temperature variations, and typical industrial conditions.
