Job Summary

Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient care.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans accurately while following infection prevention management protocols.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to ensure precise medical documentation and coding.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to support comprehensive patient assessments prior to treatment.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing wellness.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support infection control procedures through aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures to uphold safety standards.
- Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices for efficient patient flow and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Assist with dental instrument processing, dental equipment maintenance, and managing patient management software for seamless clinic operations.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a fast-paced dental clinic environment, preferably with pediatric dentistry experience.
- Strong familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or OpenDental is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding is essential for accurate documentation.
- Hands-on experience with dental X-ray technology, including dental x-ray safety protocols and 3D scanner operation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection prevention management.
- Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise along with aseptic techniques required for safe clinical practice.
- Ability to handle dental sterilization procedures meticulously to ensure equipment safety and readiness.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including pediatrics—and support their comfort throughout treatments.
