Job Overview:
We are hiring a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide primary medical and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services in a recovery-based setting. The NP will manage patient care independently and collaboratively, oversee medication regimens including buprenorphine, and support a culture of trauma-informed, whole-person care. Ideal candidates are passionate about harm reduction and want to be part of a clinic changing the face of addiction and mental health treatment in Baltimore.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physicals, identifying acute, chronic, and behavioral health issues.
- Diagnose and manage conditions within scope of practice, with a focus on substance use disorders, infectious disease, and chronic illness.
- Prescribe and manage medications, including buprenorphine, under DEA and clinic protocols.
- Order and interpret labs, diagnostics, and screenings; ensure timely follow-up and patient communication.
- Educate clients on treatment plans, medication adherence, harm reduction, and preventive care.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation in the EMR, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Participate in care team huddles, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with counselors, case managers, front desk, and dosing staff to coordinate wraparound services.
- Assist with staff education, audits, compliance efforts, and development of clinical policies and protocols.
- Respond to patient crises or medical emergencies in coordination with medical and security teams.
- Help uphold a clinic culture that is non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and rooted in community respect.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Active Nurse Practitioner License in the state of Maryland.
- Board certification in Family, Adult-Gerontology, or Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) preferred.
- DEA license & X-waiver (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- 1-2+ years of experience in addiction medicine, primary care, or mental health settings preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with MAT (Methadone, Suboxone), harm reduction, and trauma-informed care strongly preferred.
- Proficient in EMR/EHR systems and G-Suite applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and clinical judgment skills.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Certifications:
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of Maryland with active, unencumbered licensed
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Minimum Years of Experience:
- 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or a similar clinical setting
- Prior experience in methadone maintenance treatment or opioid treatment programs (OTP) preferred but not required
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding trauma-informed care
Pay:
- Starting $60 per hour, depending on experience, certification, etc.
Timings:
- 6am-2:30pm M-F
- 7am-1 pm Saturdays
- Expected Hours: 45.5 hours per week
