SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Culinary Services, the Culinary Services Supervisor supervises staff in the independent living dining venues which include the Grille, Valley Room, Pub, and Café. The supervisor ensures residents receive exceptional customer service and an elevated dining experience in these venues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Supervises all Café staff /Waitstaff and promotes teamwork concept with employees.
2. Guides, motivates, and assists the wait staff in the preparation and service of meals.
3. Ensures food handling and service complies with Federal, State, and local regulations.
4. Maintains all phases of sanitation and H.A.C.C.P implementation.
5. Works independently with direction from the Culinary Director/Assistant Culinary Director.
6. Trains staff through in-service, individual guidance, and daily affirmations of safe food handling and professional customer service.
7. Trains staff in the safe and proper operation of all equipment and cash register.
8. Prepares the staffing schedules as per company guidelines and keeps staff informed of changes.
9. Oversees and assists in the cleaning of all equipment and facilities.
10. Conducts interviews, training, and performance management of staff as per company policies.
11. Ensures and is responsible for all minors having completed work permits under Maryland law.
12. Oversees and assists in the proper storage of food items,
13. Attends departmental meetings or weekly meetings as required.
14. Ensures staff are in proper uniform and are following dress code guidelines.
15. Conducts table touch points to obtain feedback from residents about the quality of food and customer service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Capable of lifting 25 pounds or more. Capable of standing on concrete flooring for extended periods of time. Capable of maneuvering safely and independently in and around kitchen, office, and storage areas. Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to meet the position requirements. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher, manipulates kitchen equipment, and operates all office equipment. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, speak clearly, and understand English. Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to use business math concepts. Ability to get along well with others, to demonstrate flexibility and patience, to work as a member of a team, and to demonstrate an elevated level of sensitivity and interest in people, particularly older adults. Must be good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to cope with the emotional and physical stress of the position.
EDUCATION
High School education preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Possesses a minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in food service facilities or fine dining venues.

Pay: $22.34 - $25.73 per hour
