Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during examinations, procedures, and treatments using dental instruments and equipment
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring infection prevention protocols are followed
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering to HIPAA and infection control standards
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding
- Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices to promote optimal dental health
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures
- Support dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to maintain clinical confidentiality policies
Requirements
- Valid Dental Assistant/RDA certification with experience in general dentistry; pediatric dentistry experience is a plus
- Proficiency with dental software including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic or other patient management systems
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and medical terminology
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control expertise
- Ability to operate dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately while maintaining safety standards
- Strong understanding of chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and oral surgery support
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage patient care compassionately and professionally
- Familiarity with medical records management, medical coding, and electronic health record (EHR) systems
