Position Summary
HAR Dental – Plainview Dentistry is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Sterile Technician to support our clinical team by maintaining the highest standards of infection control and instrument sterilization. This role is essential to ensuring patient safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient clinical operations through proper cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and tracking of dental instruments and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to OSHA, CDC, and office protocols.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before returning them to service.
- Maintain accurate sterilization logs, spore testing records, and quality assurance documentation.
- Ensure treatment rooms are stocked and prepared with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering sterilization and clinical supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant sterilization area.
- Properly handle and dispose of contaminated materials and sharps.
- Assist the dental team with infection-control procedures and clinic readiness as needed. (Ampla Health)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a dental office, medical office, or sterile processing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable attendance and professional demeanor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
