Overview
We are a heavy highway construction company looking for a driver and shop support. Join our team as a Truck Driver/Shop Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring efficient transportation and smooth shop operations. This position combines professional driving with hands-on shop support, offering an opportunity to develop your skills in logistics, vehicle handling, and civil construction. You will be responsible for safely operating various types of trucks, including pickups, Izuzu rack bodies, etc. (CDL not required just a DOT medical card).
Duties
- Load and unload cargo accurately, utilizing manual handling techniques and logistics cargo handling procedures to prevent damage or injury.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and equipment
- Assist in shop duties such as vehicle maintenance support, inventory management of supplies, and basic repair tasks when needed.
- Communicate effectively with ownership to coordinate deliveries, route adjustments, and delivery schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with DOT medical card, with experience in truck driving.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations
- Skilled in manual handling techniques with experience in truck loading/unloading processes for freight or logistics cargo handling.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and execution on over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to dangerous goods transportation and truck safety protocols.
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe commercial truck driving practices.
- Construction background preffered but not required for assisting lead mechanic with shop and inventory management.
Pay: $1,150.00 - $1,250.00 per week
