GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Boys’ School (WBS) is seeking a dedicated professional nurse to join our team. WBS is a secure treatment facility providing a structured environment for young men ages 12–21, with a focus on emotional well-being, education, and mental health.
In this role, you will perform nursing services essential to patient care and public safety, including health maintenance, disease prevention, and quality assurance. You will develop compassionate relationships with residents, collaborate with the healthcare community, and help implement nursing care standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

Assists with the development of policy and procedures for implementing specific programs; orients new staff to the programs, policies, and procedures.

Contributes to the development of relevant nursing protocols to provide clinical care and teaching materials for groups and individuals.

Provides guidance and oversight regarding nursing functions as programs are developed and implemented.

Mentors, advises, and guides staff nurses towards program outcomes.
-
Serves as a resource for personnel in developing and delivering programs/services, including clinical nursing care, contact investigation, community outreach initiatives, and health education/health promotion messages.

Takes responsibility for assigned special projects from initiation through project completion. Suggests budgets for assigned projects and monitors expenditures once approved.

Contributes to Quality Assurance by collecting and compiling department CQI data.

Performs nursing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of ill and disabled persons.

Arranges for and conducts nursing clinics and classes.

Reviews fiscal transactions/documentation for services, reimbursement, patient fees, and donations.
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to Registered Nurse applicants with an associate's degree and 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.
KNOWLEDGE:
-
Knowledge of principles of nursing and management processes.

Knowledge of the medical diagnosis and treatment of patient care using nursing diagnosis.

Knowledge of organization, planning and team building.
-
Knowledge of principles and practices of public health nursing.
-
Knowledge of human service management to include supervisory techniques, methods and standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in nursing)
Experience:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
