Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a full-time Equipment Operator to join our team in Savannah, Georgia. This position plays a vital role in supporting our intermodal operations through the safe and efficient movement of containers and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy intermodal handling equipment and be capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience or experience managing an intermodal terminal, container yard, or storage operation. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy intermodal handling equipment in a fast-paced work environment.
- Load, unload, move, and position containers, materials, and equipment as required.
- Operate equipment such as jockey trucks, 36K forklifts with flipper attachments, container handlers, and other heavy equipment as assigned.
- Perform daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and site-specific operational guidelines.
- Work closely with supervisors and team members to safely complete daily operational objectives.
- Assist with coordinating daily yard operations to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, and container traffic to ensure a safe work environment.
- Accurately complete operational reports, inspection documentation, and other required records using basic computer applications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard and equipment.
- Respond promptly to changing operational needs and workload demands.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and safety standards.
- Work overtime and flexible schedules as directed to support business operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating heavy intermodal handling equipment required.
- Experience operating one or more of the following is strongly preferred:
- Jockey Truck
- 36K Forklift with Flipper Attachment
- Container Handler
- Previous supervisory experience or experience managing an intermodal terminal, container yard, or storage operation is strongly preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and effectively prioritize daily responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to complete operational documentation and communicate electronically.
- Strong understanding of equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials as needed.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required.
- Willingness to work overtime as directed to support operational needs.
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings, including a drug screening and background check, if applicable.
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
