Qualifications:Bachelors in social work, education, psychology, sociology, child development, human services or related field plus one year of relevant experience; or a minimum of five years’ related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Background Clearance Requirement:
Employment will be contingent on successfully passing a mandatory background check through Fresno County Probation. This will be completed, passed and clearance will be maintained according to the satisfaction of Probation. An outside background clearance will not be accepted or considered.
Experience: Experience with class facilitation, working with large and small groups; interacting effectively with multiple agencies both in public and private who serve at risk children, youth, families. Experience with intake, implementing assessments, tracking progress/case notes, following established curricula, and assessing any needs or barriers affecting participant and program success. Experience with data entry and ability to use Microsoft Office is a must. Experience or knowledge of parenting skills preferred. Experience with supervision of multiple staff. Basic knowledge of program budget, scope of work and audit process preferred.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Bright Futures Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating parenting education and family strengthening programs that promote positive parenting practices, healthy child development, and family stability. This position oversees parenting education services, facilitates evidence-based parenting curricula, supervises parenting facilitators and volunteers, and collaborates with community partners to ensure families receive comprehensive support services. Bright Futures Coordinator must maintain required training and uphold the fidelity of the evidence and research-based curricula used in parenting education. Will ensure service delivery of staff and interns aligns with Focus Forward’s values and best practice approaches including using a trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and family-centered approach to empower parents and caregivers while fostering safe, stable, and nurturing home environments.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate parenting education and family strengthening programs..
- Facilitate evidence-based parenting education classes, workshops, support groups, and family engagement activities.
- Maintain quality assurance, write and submit program and budget reports in accordance with contract requirements. Maintain timely case notes, case file paperwork and data entry as required by funder and Focus Forward.
- Oversee and manage staff/ and interns/volunteers to provide services that meet the needs of clients and provide coaching and feedback as necessary.
- Intake of clients into parenting program and managing referrals. Follow up with referrals, track communication and enter data into the system.
- Be responsive, consistent and reliable with all families, staff and program participants
- Assess parent/family needs to alleviate barriers of program completion and respond accordingly to reduce/eliminate barriers using internal and external resources
- Provide support with community referrals to ensure all needs of families are being met, may include internal referral and screening of programs that clients may be eligible
- Provide demonstrations on appropriate parent activities or practices and communicate the importance of curriculum content (i.e. importance of role reversal, parent-child empathy, child nutrition, consistency, appropriate discipline, etc.)
- Maintain required training to be a qualified facilitator of the established curricula
- Flexibility in regard to scheduling (most classes will be offered on evenings and/or weekends—as needed by clients)
- Attend workshops and community meetings relevant to program or professional development needs.
- Attend meetings and develop/maintain communication with funders regarding program implementation, referrals, partnership, client staffings, etc.
- Maintain open communication with management, including ongoing updates, gaps in service, or other program needs. Engage in strategic planning efforts to develop programs.
- Support in class scheduling, ensuring space is set up and supplies are provided.
- Coordinate one-on-one sessions with clients
Specific/Additional Duties:
- Special projects or services, as may arise, based on family need—supplemental workshops, assessments, activities, etc.
- Participate in regular staff and intern meetings and agency events and trainings
- All other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge/Skills:
- Bi-lingual preferred
- Ability to work with clientele one on one and to speak to large groups of people which may include public presentations and facilitating workshops/classes
- Very organized and able to establish and follow timelines, curriculum and files
- Able to effectively communicate the benefits of program enrollment
- Must be able to work with multiple ages, cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientations, etc. in a culturally competent manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills including but not limited to: using database, use of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel, e-mail and electronic calendar
- Excellent customer service skills to clients, partners and other stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, co-workers, partners, and the general public
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of available resources within the community for the client population
- Ability and knowledge of best practices working with children, youth, young adults and families who face multiple barriers and risk factors and who have been involved in the justice or child welfare systems
- Ability to think critically, identify opportunities and needs; and prioritize work to meet mandatory outcomes of program and organization
- Must exercise good judgment and be able to work autonomously with integrity.
Work Environment and Physical Conditions and Demands:
Cubicle setting, sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting up to approximately 40 pounds (more or less as needed), some meetings and appointments or presentations offsite in the community, heavy computer and telephone usage, physical coordination, working in noisy or crowded environment, speak loudly, stopping, bending, lifting, reaching, must drive vehicle. Must be comfortable working with families facing various challenges and provide services in a non-judgmental manner. Compensation
This non-exempt position is full-time, 40 hours per week at $22-$24 per hour DOE. Benefit package that includes paid time off (sick leave, all Fresno County recognized holidays). Portion of medical insurance coverage; 100% dental (employee + 1 dependent), and vision coverage (employee only) and 403b retirement option with up to 4% employer match. Mileage
reimbursement for approved work-related travel at the federal reimbursement rate. Paid time off upon supervisor approval after the 90-day introductory period.
