Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled GI/Endoscopy Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of gastroenterology procedures, patient care, and endoscopic techniques. This role involves assisting physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, ensuring high standards of safety, hygiene, and patient comfort. The successful applicant will contribute to accurate diagnostics, effective treatment planning, and the maintenance of sterile environments within the endoscopy unit.
Duties
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, gastroscopies, and other gastrointestinal interventions by preparing equipment and supporting procedural workflows.
- Ensure proper reprocessing and sterilization of endoscopes and related instruments in accordance with infection prevention protocols.
- Support patient care activities by preparing patients for procedures, monitoring vital signs, and providing post-procedure assistance.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, findings, and equipment maintenance in compliance with medical standards.
- Assist with the operation of medical imaging devices used during endoscopic evaluations to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
- Uphold aseptic techniques throughout all procedures to prevent infection transmission and ensure patient safety.
- Collaborate with medical staff to perform physiological assessments, interpret basic imaging results, and support diagnostic evaluations.
- Participate in ongoing training related to endoscopic surgical techniques, anatomy knowledge, and new technological advancements in gastroenterology.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a clinical setting supporting gastroenterology or endoscopy procedures is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of gastrointestinal anatomy, physiology, and common pathologies encountered during endoscopy is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in endoscope reprocessing, sterilization protocols, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to gastroenterology and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
- Strong technical skills with the ability to operate endoscopic equipment and assist with surgical techniques as needed.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals and compassionate patient interaction.
