Senior Designer & Full-Stack Builder
UI/UX · AI-Fluent · Code-Capable · Start to Finish
Fully Remote | $40–80/hr | W-2 On-Call / Moonlighting | No guaranteed hours
This is a W-2 on-call moonlighting role. Hours are project-based and variable — there are no guaranteed hours. When there's work, we move fast. This is ideal for a seasoned designer/builder who wants flexible, high-quality client work on the side.
We need a senior designer who can take a site from blank canvas to live — concept, design, and code. Real design craft, genuine AI fluency, and the ability to build and ship using Claude Code and modern platforms. All of it.
ABOUT US
We're a rapidly growing boutique consulting firm working with small-to-mid market clients across the Bay Area. We cover web design, branding, print, marketing, and social — and we need a senior designer who can lead creative output and take projects all the way to launch.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
1. Real Design Craft
You have the eye, the process, and the portfolio to prove it. Strong fundamentals in layout, typography, UX thinking, and visual hierarchy. AI tools sharpen your work — they don't replace it.
2. Active AI Fluency
You stay current — Google Stitch, Claude, ChatGPT, Figma AI, and whatever just launched. You use these tools daily to move faster and produce better work, but you could do the job without them. AI tools are an accelerant, not a crutch.
3. Start-to-Finish Build Ability
You can take a project from blank canvas to live site — solo if needed. You're comfortable in Webflow, Framer, WordPress, and Shopify, and can write or direct HTML, CSS, JS, and React. You use Claude Code to accelerate development, whether that means scaffolding a custom site, writing components, or pushing through the final build. Vibe coding is fine — but you need to know what's happening under the hood.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead design end-to-end — flows, wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and final execution in Figma
- Take sites from concept to live — design, build, and ship using Webflow, Framer, custom HTML/CSS/JS/React, or WordPress/Shopify
- Use Claude Code to accelerate development — scaffold, build components, and push projects across the finish line
- Use AI tools (Google Stitch, Claude, ChatGPT, Figma AI, and others) where they genuinely improve the work or speed — not as a substitute for craft
- Create visual assets for branding, print, marketing, and social using Adobe CC and Canva
- Collaborate with our dev team and present clearly to Bay Area clients
- Mentor junior designers and help raise the creative bar
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of professional UI/UX or product design experience
- Portfolio showing design thinking, process, AND live sites you've built — no portfolio, no review
- Expert-level Figma (components, variants, auto layout, prototyping)
- Strong visual craft and UX fundamentals
- Active, current use of AI design and development tools (Google Stitch, Claude, ChatGPT, Figma AI, or equivalent)
- Experience using Claude Code to build and ship sites or components
- Hands-on platform experience: Webflow, Framer, and/or WordPress or Shopify
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, and React — enough to take a custom site from start to finish
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Comfortable working independently in an on-call, project-based capacity with no guaranteed hours
BONUS POINTS
- Motion design / After Effects
- JavaScript / React beyond the basics
- Accessibility knowledge (WCAG)
- SEO awareness for web
