Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will serve as a trusted advocate and mentor for individuals navigating mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Your lived experience and recovery journey will inspire hope and motivate clients toward positive change. Duties
- Provide peer support advocacy by sharing personal recovery experiences to foster hope and resilience among clients
- Assist individuals in developing coping strategies through motivational interviewing and harm reduction techniques
- Offer crisis management and intervention during emotional or behavioral episodes, ensuring safety and stabilization
- Support clients in navigating behavioral health services, including addiction counseling and social work resources
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information while documenting interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Engage with culturally diverse communities to promote inclusivity, understanding, and tailored support approaches
- Mentor clients through recovery goals, emphasizing strengths-based approaches and client-centered communication
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders
- Demonstrated ability in crisis intervention and crisis management techniques
- Familiarity with behavioral health practices, addiction counseling, harm reduction strategies, and motivational interviewing methods
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations to ensure equitable support services
- Strong communication skills for effective client engagement and advocacy
- Knowledge of social work principles and peer support advocacy best practices
- Comfort using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and case tracking
- Personal experience with recovery from mental health or substance use challenges is highly valued
