Bi‑Lingual Community Supervision Officer (Spanish/English)
Location: Colorado County CSCD (serving Colorado, Lavaca & Gonzales Counties)
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
- This role requires full professional proficiency in English and Spanish, strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage crisis situations effectively. Officers work under the supervision of the Director and the Colorado CSCD Supervisor and are expected to uphold the Department’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values while supporting the successful rehabilitation of those they supervise.”
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Bilingual proficiency — Must demonstrate full professional proficiency in English and Spanish, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Case management — Provide counseling, referrals, assessments, and individualized case plans for assigned probationers.
- Court operations — Attend District and Misdemeanor Court as directed; provide effective courtroom testimony.
- Interagency collaboration — Work with CSCDs, attorneys, courts, Immigration, Homeland Security, and other state/federal agencies.
- Compliance monitoring — Conduct office and field visits, urinalysis testing (urine, saliva, hair), intake interviews, and violation reporting.
- Documentation — Complete monthly reports timely, maintain accurate case counts, and document all probationer contacts.
- Resource coordination — Maintain knowledge of in‑house, community, regional, and state referral resources.
- Training — Attend required training to enhance skills and job performance.
- Physical duties — Perform both office and field work involving moderate physical exertion, prolonged walking/standing, and use of self‑defense tactics.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board‑recognized accredited institution.
- Degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
- Must meet all statutory requirements under TDCJ–CJAD Standards.
- Must not be currently employed as a peace officer, reserve officer, volunteer officer, or under community supervision/parole.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
- Prior court or related experience preferred.
