Position Summary
The Human Resources Coordinator supports the Human Resources function by administering day-to-day HR operations, recruiting activities, onboarding, employee records management, compliance documentation, and employee support. This position serves as a key point of contact for employees and applicants and is responsible for ensuring HR processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
The HR Coordinator will play an active role in full-cycle recruiting for both field and office positions, supporting workforce growth and operational needs across marine construction projects and corporate operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Process new hire paperwork and ensure completion of all onboarding documentation.
- Coordinate and track I-9 verification, E-Verify, background checks, drug screenings, and pre-employment requirements.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, enrollment, and employee inquiries.
- Maintain HRIS and employee databases, ensuring accuracy of employee information.
- Prepare employment verification requests and HR-related correspondence.
- Assist with leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and other employee leave programs.
- Support employee relations initiatives and respond to routine employee inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with audits, reporting, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate employee training records, certifications, and required compliance training.
Recruiting and Talent Acquisition
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for field and office positions, including construction administrators, project managers, estimators, crane operators, commercial divers, craft professionals, and corporate staff.
- Create and post job advertisements on job boards, social media platforms, company websites, and industry-specific recruiting sources.
- Source candidates through LinkedIn, Indeed, industry associations, trade schools, military transition programs, employee referrals, and networking events.
- Review applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates.
- Conduct phone screenings and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Maintain applicant tracking systems and recruiting records.
- Communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate offer letters, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding activities.
- Track recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and hiring activity.
- Participate in career fairs, recruiting events, and workforce development initiatives.
Administrative Support
- Assist with HR reports, presentations, and workforce analytics.
- Support performance management and annual review processes.
- Coordinate employee recognition and engagement programs.
- Assist with special HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Assist with the employer side of injuries and Workers' compensation claims and act as a liaison between employee and case worker
- Implement and assist in leave of absence cases ex. FMLA.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources, Recruiting, or Talent Acquisition experience required.
- Experience supporting construction, industrial, marine, manufacturing, or skilled trades environments preferred.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS), ADP and Bamboo HRIS platforms preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Understanding of recruiting techniques and candidate sourcing strategies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or HR certification preferred.
- Experience recruiting for construction, marine, heavy civil, industrial, or skilled trades positions.
- Experience with E-Verify, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee records management.
- Familiarity with federal contractor compliance requirements and workforce reporting.
- Experience working in a multi-site and multi-state organization.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Occasional travel to project sites, recruiting events, career fairs, and company locations.
