Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and specialized equipment to load or unload freight.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across OTR routes and local destinations.
- Load and unload freight efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and proper manual handling techniques.
- Maintain compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations during all operations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any issues promptly.
- Deliver freight to designated locations, ensuring accurate documentation and proper handling of freight.
- Communicate effectively with teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or unforeseen delays to optimize logistics cargo handling.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving in various environments.
- Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, manual transmission operation, and manual handling techniques.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems accurately and follow detailed routes across different terrains.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, manual handling proficiency, and adherence to all traffic laws.
